Screening mammography decreases breast cancer mortality and increases the detection of early stage, more easily treated breast cancer [1]. While mammography is the mainstay of breast cancer screening [2,3], it has known limitations in evaluating patients with dense fibroglandular breast tissue [4] and has been shown to preferentially detect slower growing, low-grade cancers or ductal carcinoma in situ [5,6].
